Vanilla Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Pour Batter into Pans: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool: Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Frost: Once cooled, frost with your favorite frosting and enjoy!

Tips:

  • You can add some lemon zest or almond extract for a different flavor.
  • This cake can be layered or served plain with a dusting of powdered sugar.
