Indian Premier League (IPL) has gained widespread attention all around the world with fans from all parts of the world showing interest in the league. The league is known for its thrilling matches, world-famous players and the massive fan following that it generates. 

However, one of the most important aspects of the league that is often overlooked is the part that team owners play. The team owners invest millions and millions of dollars in their franchises and here in the blog, we are going to discuss the team owners of every IPL team and how they play their part in the success of their teams.

  1. Chennai Super Kings 

One of the most successful teams in the league is owned by N.Sirinivasan. Srinivasan was the former president of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and the Managing director of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited & India Cements. 

  1. Delhi Capitals 

The Delhi Capitals is a franchise that is owned by the JSW Group and GMR Group. These two companies are big conglomerates in the business sector of India and they collaborated in 2008 to purchase the Delhi team. 

  1. Punjab Kings 

Formerly known as Kings XI Punjabs, this franchise is known for its owners – Preity Zinta, Ness Vadia, Mohit Burman and Karan Paul. Apart from Preity Zinta, the other owners of the team are a part of the business world. 

  1. Mumbai Indians 

One of the most famous IPL Team Owners is Reliance Industries which own Mumbai Indians. As the largest business in India, Reliance is led by Mukesh Ambani who is the richest man in Asia. 

  1. Kolkata Knight Riders 

KKR is also one of the most famous teams in the league and this can be a result of the team owners, Shahrukh Khan along with Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta owning this franchise. 

  1. Sunrisers Hyderabad 

Kalanithi Maran, the Managing Director and Chairman of the Sun Group is the person who bought this franchise in 2012 after the previous owners were not able to manage it. 

  1. Rajasthan Royals 

The British businessman, Manoj Badale is the owner of the Rajasthan Franchise. It is important to note that Badale got the franchise in 2019 after Jaipur IPL Cricket Private Ltd (Previous owners) were suspended by the BCCI. 

  1. Royal Challengers Bangalore 

RCB is one of those few teams who have not won an IPL title till now. The team is owned by United Spirits which is a part of the British alcoholic beverages company – Diageo. 

  1. Gujarat Titans 

Gujarat Titans is one of the two new teams in the league and in the bidding for new teams, CVC Capital Partners got the controlling stake for the teams. 

  1. Lucknow Super Giants 

Owned by Sanjiv Goenka, LSG is a part of the ROSG Group, a company which has investments in different sectors. The team has not been a part of the league for a very long time as it has only played 3 seasons.
