If writing a book is something you have never tried before, it might be a bit intimidating. One might think, “Am I really capable of write your own book while I am not a professional writer?” Absolutely yes! Writing books is not an activity reserved specifically for experts. Most of the successful authors started with little or no experience. Hence they are not interested in whether they had a story to tell, a message to share, or if there was a passion that had to be let out.
As long as you have the drive to write, you have everything that will get you started.
In this blog, we are going to look at how you can possibly complete your own book, even from scratch. We will break this down into simple steps and show you it is not half as cumbersome or intimidating as it sounds.
Start from What You Love and Your Purpose
First, consider what inspires your writing. What is fueling it? Is there a story within you that is blisteringly demanding it be told? You got a passion for a subject that is consuming you? Your intention is going to work as your navigation, driving you even when times are rough, to keep writing.
I never had a course in write your own book. But I did have a story about how to become a victor over your personal struggles. That’s what kept us going. Our ‘why,’ in this context, is the North Star around which you’ll navigate this whole process of writing.
Give Yourself a Break—Just Get Started.
Maybe the biggest thing keeping you from your book is that fear; “I am not good enough to write a book,” you might even think, “I am not a writer,” or “What if it is not perfect?” But here is the thing, no first draft is ever truly perfect. Writing is about revising, and even what you write will still get done—a crude draft at that. You only want to get your thoughts and ideas there on paper; you will revise and polish them later.
I doubted myself whenever I would start writing. Is anybody really interested in what I’m writing? But that fear of inquiry, I always overcame by reasoning that it was just the first draft—that was my first draft and didn’t have to be perfect. It just had to be. Begin to write your own book without worrying about perfection. You’ll get your thoughts down. Edit and improve later.
Simplify Step by Step
Writing a whole book can seem overwhelming. However, just like anything that is generally considered a great feat, it can feel more doable if you break it down. Begin by mapping an outline. Consider this an idea of what is going inside your book—the main things or chapters which you want to accomplish. Once your outline is formed, fill in one piece at a time.
When I wrote my own book, I found that breaking the process into many smaller tasks helped me stay on track. Though the goals were so small initially; I was supposed to write one chapter in a week. That way, I would be aiming at only one small task at a time, giving me no overwhelming feeling.
You don’t need hours a day to yourself to be able to write. As little as 15-30 minutes of time per day will suffice. Consistency is what matters here, and in the long run, these small efforts will add up to something huge: a finished manuscript.
Now You Just Have To Learn
One very important factor that you should bear in mind in the write your own book is to embrace your unique voice. It is okay not to write like a famous author or to write perfectly, in view of every rule in grammar. You are to make your book unique, and therefore, your own voice in writing is extremely vital. This is primarily how you make the connection with a reader in a personal way.
Right at the very start of my writing, I was scared that my style wasn’t good enough. The more I wrote, the more I got help to realize what really resonated with the readers were my feelings. The readers appreciated that I came off as truly honest and relatable, realistically. Thus, let your personality shine through your writing. Don’t be afraid to be yourself. Your readers will appreciate your authenticity.
Seek Feedback and Support
As much as writing seems such a personal process, you do not need to go at it alone. Seek to have friends, family, or writers’ circles give you feedback. Getting someone else’s perspective on your work can be informative and improve your work on many levels.
While write your own book, I would bring early drafts to a few trusted friends. Their input helped me to see things in a different way and made my writing increasingly stronger. Don’t hesitate to ask for support: dealing with criticism or moving through tough times, with supporters involved, anything becomes easier.
There are also writer groups online where you can meet those facing the same process. You will see that you aren’t alone in facing struggles and that there are plenty of experiences to learn from.
“Polish”: Consisting In Perfecting
Once you’ve written your first draft, that’s when the real work begins: actually editing and rewriting. This is the process where you essentially polish up your ideas, make your sentences perfect, and smooth out your writing so that it shines. Editing isn’t easy, but it sure is an important part of the writing process.
What I learned most in the editing process was to give some distance to my manuscript. I had a fresh look at it, enabling me to see most of my errors and points that I needed to improve, which I would otherwise not have seen. Thus, give yourself time to distance yourself from your work before diving into revisions.
If you find that the act of editing itself is daunting, consider paying for a professional editor. They’ll offer that essential outside view and help you to tighten up your book.
Share Your Book With the World.
After the toil, you would want to see your book published. Why not now more than ever, with the help of self-publishing platforms like Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing? You no longer need any traditional publisher who may not mind your story. Very little researching can establish the best platform bestowing for your needs, and for now, you can publish your book similarly your way around. I was a bundle of excitement and nerves in the buildup to my book’s pressing, but clicking the final ‘Publish’ button made it all worth the while. Your story is a huge accomplishment whether you share it via self-publishing or traditional publishing; be proud of yourself just for taking that step.
Writing Your Own Book Is Possible—Even Without Experience
You may author a book with no experience. So, can you write a book if you have no writing experience? Certainly! The golden advice would be to write from a place of passion, embrace what makes your voice uniquely yours, and be willing to learn as you go. A book is a journey and, like all journeys, one foot must be placed down to get started. No need, then, to become an expert to begin. Just retain a willingness to engage in the process and to expand. Writing fiction or nonfiction, memoir or poetry—you have a voice in each. Remember that idea you have that is going to be the most amazing book? You will with lots of tenacity and the smallest smidgen of patience release it into the world with little fear but lots of hope and with your head held high.
Conclusion:
